“Up”, dinner and a street fair

Up by Pixar Animation Studios

Today we went to see the newest Pixar (I am a huge fan) movie, “Up” which was adorable and heartbreaking at the same time. Although I have to admit, I still rank Wall-e and the Incredibles as Pixar’s best.  “Up” had a little something for everybody.  Children, adults and even the hardest to please movie critics and analyzers will find this film enjoyable. This was a chance for Pixar, not to display their animation brillance (they already did that with flying colors in the past), but to show off their story telling abilities.  And story tell they did.  “Up” is a wonderful story about love, friendship, an old man and his floating house and most importantly, adventure.  With hidden metaphors and symbolism everywhere, there is much to see and think about in this film.  What could be more adorable than an old man and a soft, cuddley kid who embark on a once in a lifetime adventure together in a house carried by balloons?  Go see Up and get “lifted” away.

♥♥♥♥ (hearts instead of stars until I find the html coding for a star!)

After the movie (and wiping the tears away with paper towls), we set out to find dinner. Just a few blocks from our apartment is restaurant row, convenient, eh! We walked from the theater on 42nd to restaurant row where there was a street festival taking place. I snapped a pic as we settled into a nice, cozy spanish restaurant called “Sangria” where we ordered olives, and an assortment from their tapas menu. I love olives! We left around 10:30pm and now I’m cozy at home with cats.

Looking especially girly in a yellow dress.  Rare, very rare.

Lots of people on restaurant row!

Another Valspar!

Another Valspar commercial!  I just can’t get enough.  Of course the music is great as always and the concept is amazing!

Okay, so the author of this video has disabled embedding…so, here is a link to it on youtube.

New Logo!

I was finally able to finish my logo design, after months of brainstorming and hours of sketching ideas. You’d think that as an artist I would have a better idea of I wanted my own logo to look like, but this was so hard for me to do! Then all of a sudden the idea came and with some graphic help from Dhare, my new logo is ready to make its debut!

Fedex Boxes…in French!

By Becka, June 5, 2009 4:32 pm

At my job it is part of our daily routine to ship out tons of packages.  Okay, maybe not tons, but we probably ship one a day on average.  And we ship Fedex.  Why, because Fedex is the best.  My point being, I have become an expert in the appearance of a Fedex box.

One of the places we do not ship to on a regular basis, because it is complicated, is Canada.  I love Canada, oh yes, I love it so much…but it is a royal pain in the arse to ship there from the US.  Customs is just, ugh.   But anyway, I was awaiting the return of a shipment from Canada when it arrived in what else, but a Fedex box!  And to my delight and amusement, the box was in French!  I’m sure it’s not nearly as exciting to you as it was for me, but you have to understand my love for Canada and the on going joke that everything there is in French.  Especially when they aren’t even near France. Yah, French colonization happened at some point, but um, that was a long time ago.

I’m just going to savor the moment of my happiness when I saw that Fedex box in French for the first time.

Sony Makes Sucky Batteries…

Battery Expansion

I have had my current MacBook for almost two years now, and never really had any problems with it. I mean, I have abused that computer way more than one small white laptop deserves, let me tell you… It’s had an entire glass of water spilled on it (I blame the cats), been through hot unbearable weather during the summer and of course, had WoW running on it for like at least 8 hours a day.

Last week I discovered, after I picked it up, that the underside had a bit bulging out. I immediately showed it to Dhare, who took out the expanded piece. We scheduled an appointment to have it replaced at the Apple store on 5th Ave. Oh, I forgot to mention that my track pad had been out of order for about a year also… Another “mistreatment” I figured.

So we brought my laptop in where the good people of Apple took care of me and replaced my faulty, expanded and prone to exploding Sony battery. Free of charge, courtesy of Sony. My Mac guy also concluded my track pad now worked since the puffed battery had been removed, thus taking the pressure off. I was thrilled! It was like getting a whole new computer. New battery and new, working track pad! Thanks Apple guy!  Oh and thanks for saving my life, I could have exploded!

-signed, a very happy Apple customer

I Quit WoW!

Ulduar Magic

About a month ago, almost to the day, I quit World of Warcraft. May seem a little silly to some, or dumb, and call me a geek (that’s what I am!)…but this game ate up a year and a half of my life. And I finally walked away from it on May 3, 2009.

I had thought about quitting many times, as I am sure every WoW player thinks about at least once. But every time I got close, I would think “I can’t quit, what about my toon? What about my guild? What about all of the unreal objects that I have collected and become so attached to?” And then I would continue playing. And continue to lose those precious details around my real life. They were all fading away. Continue reading 'I Quit WoW!'»
